Of course, taking the first steps towards creating an Android app can be both exhilarating and daunting. With so many resources available, it can be challenging to know where to begin. But with a little determination and a willingness to learn, anyone can create their very first Android app.

Lesson Delivery Format

Online private lessons that includes 1, 4, 8, or 12 lessons per month. Each lesson is one hour and led by an experienced, Ireland-based instructor, with age-appropriate curriculum. Sessions are held online via Zoom.

Here's a sample of what a week in this course could look like. Keep in mind students will progress at varying paces, and this is meant to serve as an outline of key materials and the overall experience.

Week 1

Get system requirements and instructions for installing Android Studio 3.x and launching your first Android project. You'll start up your first Android project and get to know Android Studio's main. Write your first animated Android app with Android Studio's Project editor. You'll code the app, learning how to use Android Studio to enter source code and resources into the project. Build your app with Gradle, then run it with the Android device emulator or Kindle Fire tablet. This update includes troubleshooting advice for the Android device emulator and the infamous "Waiting for target device to come online" error.

Week 2

Get acquainted with some of the more advanced tools for Android Studio: three built-in tools and three plugins for debugging and improving the quality and productivity of your Android application code. Includes a simple debugging process for Android applications.

Earn your STEM Certificate

At the conclusion of your child's course, they will receive an official STEM Metaverse certificate and course transcript outlining the skills they learned over the duration of the course.
